His fingers smooth over the back of Nanami's head, sliding down to his neck, just idly stroking over the skin there as he opens his eyes, gaze focusing on the ceiling.
"I missed this too." It's quiet, his other hand smoothing over Nanami's back.
Nanami takes a little time to gather himself back together. He gently pulls out and adjusts their positions to be, hopefully, more comfortable. Only small movements, nothing big. Yes, they're messy, and Nanami will want to clean up, but first, he needs to stay there with Yu.
"All I've wanted," Nanami says, "for so long." He turns his head to somewhat see Yu, even if it is just his hair, his ear. "Just for me."
Nanami smiles. The only selfish thing, or at least the most selfish thing, he's wanted not for the good of the world, only for himself. His limbs are heavy and tired, his emotions making them feel heavier.
"We should shower or take a bath," Nanami says. He lifts a hand to brush at Haibara's hair. "Which would you prefer?"
Nanami cannot help but smile. A shower is his preference as well. A shower only, if there's only time for one. A bath afterward.
"It's almost like you know me," he jokes, aside from it being standard practice. He forces himself up off Haibara, off the bed, and stands. He offers Haibara a hand. "I didn't show you the bathroom in my tour."
Besides the walk in closet, there's another door in the bedroom, one that leads to a large stately bathroom full of amenities, yet clean and tidy. Nanami leans in to start the water but lets it warm up first.
"There's another one on the other end, but this one is our bathroom."
"I prefer the bedroom to be a private space. That includes the en suite bathroom." Having people over at all is a huge step from how he lived before. He needs this measure of privacy. A border. A boundary that almost no one gets to cross.
"I didn't expect it either," Nanami admits. "It happened gradually though, over time. I wasn't nearly so fit when I first came back. Years out of practice, and it showed." He groans. "Gojo beat me up so hard." Without even trying. He still can, but Nanami can make a better show of it.
"I figured you worked hard to get back up to speed and then maintain. Especially if you reached first grade status." He straightens, crosses to stand behind Nanami, running hands over his back, fingers just smoothing over the skin.
"Of course he did." Because nobody's on his level, at least within their current ranks.
"I got up to speed, yes, but I did more than maintain it," Nanami says, "I've pushed myself further and further than I thought possible over time. I even tried to learn domain amplification." A failure, something he couldn't grasp. That's okay. "This is as far as I've managed to reach physically. I don't know if it's possible for me to advance further that way."
He sighs and shrugs. One hand reaches back just to touch Haibara, stay connected. "I learned to apply my technique to the environment, not just my opponents." That was an enormous leap forward, helped by a Binding Vow.
"You'll get there." His voice is quiet. "And I meant physically when I said maintain. You're always going to push yourself more when it comes to your ability." And that's fine. It's part of who Nanami is and Haibara admires the drive.
His fingers lace with Nanami's again, squeezing his hand.
Nanami doubts he'll master domain amplification. Everyone has limits, even grade one sorcerers. It's why there are so many more of them than special grade sorcerers. There aren't even—weren't even—many special grade cursed spirits, even if they greatly outnumber special grade sorcerers. Most things, under normal circumstances, grade one sorcerers can handle. Home simply isn't normal right now.
"I didn't know I could get this far, physically, when I started," Nanami says. "Thought I would always be lean." He laughs. It's not something he's talked about much with, well, anyone. Who talks about their physique like that? "The water's warm."
"I wouldn't have minded if you had." Haibara murmurs the word before moving to step around him and into the shower, reaching for the loofah so he can add soap to it.
"You're still you, whatever you look like." Although he can't say he minds this look either. And more chances to touch are always a plus.
"I know," Nanami smiles, "You liked me plenty back in the day. I have no doubt you'll love me whatever I look like."
He steps in behind Haibara, glad the shower is large, despite him not considering a second person when he checked out apartment options and furnished this one. He turns his head away from the water. "And you are still you."
"I'll always be me." A slight shrug before he turns his attention to bathing Nanami. And yes, he is dragging it out, pausing to kiss him far too many times because he can't resist the urge. Best to get it out of his system now than end up doing it in public if they go out later.
Nanami kisses Haibara back each time. He even distracts him with more kisses himself, fuck the nonexistent water bill. He only makes sure not to press against Haibara, so as not to undermine the slow progress Haibara makes on cleaning up. His hands rest against Haibara's skin, on his sides and up and down his back, water dripping between his fingers.
It's easy to lose himself in the kiss, the loofah slipping from his hands as he wraps arms around Nanami once he's rinsed the soap off. And the water is definitely verging to cold before they're actually done, Haibara reaching around him to turn the shower off.
He doesn't mean for it to happen, but Nanami feels how much Haibara needs touch, needs more than the incidental brush of his hand along Haibara's stomach and fingers along his spine. He kisses Haibara, water dripping down his face, and pulls Haibara close again.
He nuzzles Haibara's nose and runs wide flat hands all along his body. Nanami's here, it says. He's here, and he has Haibara.
Self control has never been his gift and even less so when he's like this, when he's got Nanami in front of him, but he does try. He really does.
And he'll get better at it, with time, but he craves the contact in a way he can't really explain. But they do finally leave the shower and settle in the tub, Haibara relaxing against Nanami's chest.
Today, Nanami will give Haibara anything and everything he wants, especially now they're back in their apartment. It's their little world to do whatever they want. Wherever they want.
He wraps his arms around Haibara in the tub, content to hold him and be together. Baths truly are so much better when clean. "Maybe tomorrow, this'll feel real," he suggests.
"We don't have to anywhere for that. If you know what you want, we can use our spoons to buy it." He looks down at Haibara. "You can go buy clothes if you want. Perhaps first one outfit with a spoon to go out in."

"Kind of unfair. I never thought you'd grow up to look like this. Not that I'm complaining by any means." But it was such a marked difference.
