Nanami continues walking after he parts ways with Maki. The mood of Epiphany, the heavy blanket of reflection, weighs on him as he walks, as he thinks about how little he did to protect those children, how little they all did. In the end, they have to save everyone, including the adults, rather than the other way around. It's unlikely they'll all make it through. It seems extremely unlikely Okkotsu will survive, and the boy probably assumes that as well. It's not good for them, but their world isn't good for them or kind to them.
He returns home, however, because he knows Yu is waiting and deserves to know some things. Some of it, at least. Things he's kept quiet on a long while. As good a place as Folkmore is for them all, the weight of their world seeps in. Nanami slips off his shoes and takes in both Yu and the tea. He pours them each a cup of tea and brings it over to the couch.
"Mostly," Nanami says. "I cannot help these kids the way I want to, but I already knew that."
