"To go is good. They'll tide us over while we get to the gardens in time for sundown," Nanami muses.
As to flavor, it's winter, so not the best of times for one with fresh fruit. Though who knows given the ability to summon food. "Chocolate and banana," Nanami answers. Since Haibara asked, it would be his decision. He knows that much.
He also gets the attention of the waiter so they can order and pay, ready to leave once they have their dessert.

They receive their crepes, leave, and Nanami slowly eats his as they walk down the street. They're going in the direction of the pod transport that can take them swiftly across the city up to the gardens, but Nanami isn't sure how safe their crepes will be in that transport.
"Is there anything you'd like to decorate our Tides apartment with?" Nanami asks as they walk. They haven't even looked at the apartments here, but he wants to get Haibara's take.

"We need an apartment, yes," Nanami agrees, "but if we know what we want, that can help us choose one." He shrugs. It's no big deal to wait. Only a day or two. He only wants to involve Haibara in the process. It doesn't have to entirely be his style, the way the apartment in Epiphany is.
He squeezes Haibara's hand and twitches slightly at the tiny bit of mess eating. He brings them before the transport system. "Shall we finish these first?"

Nanami nods and drops that thread of conversation. It leaves Haibara's next statement front of mind, even as he licks a small bit of chocolate from his mouth. "I worry that they might spill, yes," Nanami says.
He checks the time. "It shouldn't cause a problem. Far better than spilling the contents all over ourselves."
The crepe is good. He has no intention of rushing the experience of eating them.

Nanami cannot help watching Haibara and Haibara's mouth as he eats his crepe. Dessert shouldn't be able to be so‚ so... enticing. He looks away when Haibara finishes, not embarrassed exactly but trying to show some propriety.
Then Haibara leans in. Nanami's eyes go wide. At least it isn't the restaurant. He presses the button to call a pod. "Oh Yu," Nanami sighs.

"I believe you," Nanami says, making a mental note to be tidier when eating. At least in public. It may not be the lesson he's intended to take away, but they are far from a classroom.
The pod comes quickly, thankfully, and Nanami leads Haibara inside, selects the destination, and enjoys the moment of privacy while they are whisked around Tides. "Well, yes," Nanami admits, "I could watch you do anything."

Nanami glances upward for a moment, as though God might take some mercy on him. As much as this is public transport, it is a pod for just the two of them. That helps.
He turns toward Haibara and gently cups his face. Nanami leans in and kisses him. "Now is fine," Nanami says after he leans back.

"I love you too," Nanami says, "I always will."
It's not the right moment. He leans his forehead against Yu's and smiles, ever so softly. The pod comes to a halt, and Nanami pulls away and stands up.

Nanami entwines his fingers with Haibara's, permitting himself the more intimate way of holding hands. They're in an entirely different section of Tides, but the city continues to be stunning. The gardens are wonderful and beautiful. The ocean is visible through the barrier around Tides. It seems so delicate a thing, yet it's clearly trustworthy with the lives of everyone in Tides.
Nanami finds a bench for them to sit on since they didn't bring a blanket. "This was a wonderful idea."

"Absolutely. I've never finished exploring Tides. Even the places I've been to before, I've only scratched the surface, I know. There's so much and so much more." He knows Tokyo well and had forever to get to know it. Coming to a new city he never even had a chance to hear of before? It's remarkable.
He glances over at Haibara. "It's remarkable."
He glances over at Haibara. "It's remarkable."
"It is. Even the most mundane aspects of Tides is beautiful. A whole city that is itself a work of art." It makes sense given the focus of the school here. Nanami isn't an artist himself, but he appreciates it. He enjoys living his life surrounded by beauty. Enough of it is surrounded by horrors and terrors. Back home, at least, it was. His apartment was a safe space from that, but Tides... Tides is that all on its own.
He blinks at Haibara's statement, surprised. "Is it that noticeable?" Nanami asks. He hopes not everyone sees that.

Nanami nods and rubs his thumb across the back of Haibara's hand. He's glad it isn't so obvious to everyone. They all chose to live in Epiphany, and Nanami chose to as well. It's for their sake, but he doesn't want them to feel bad about that.
"Good, that's good. Not everyone sees through me like you do."
